Permits

When connecting to the Main Sewer Line or making a repair to an existing lateral, a Sewer Permit must be obtained from the Chemung County Sewer Districts.

New sanitary sewers and all extensions to sanitary sewers owned and operated by Chemung County must be designed by a professional engineer, licensed to practice sewer design in New York State. All plans and specifications must be submitted to the Sewer Districts and approved before a permit is issued.

Application

A Sewer Permit Application (PDF) can be picked up and filled out at the Permit Office. Permit fees can be paid at the Permit Office at the time the application is turned in.

Requirements

Sewer Permits will not be issued until all design and insurance requirements are met. Please see the Sewer Permit Requirements page for more information on insurance, property line cleanouts, grease traps, and backflow preventers.
