Chemung County Invites Groups to Register for the Pumpkin Chucking Contest at Fall Fest

 Chemung County Executive Christopher Moss announced today that registration is now open for the County's first-ever Pumpkin Chucking Contest, part of Chemung County Agricultural Promotion's Fall Fest at the Chemung County Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.

 The contest challenges groups to design and build their best pumpkin-launching device, competing for prizes in both distance and accuracy. Two divisions will be offered:

 Youth Division (Ages 12–17) – using 3–5 lb pumpkins.

Adult Division (Ages 18+) – using 8–10 lb pumpkins.

 "We want families, schools, and community groups to come together, get creative, and have some fun," said County Executive Moss. "This event is about teamwork, imagination, and celebrating the season in a way that's uniquely Chemung County."  Participation is free, but pre-registration is required.  The Pumpkin Chucking Contest is part of an all-day celebration at the Fairgrounds, featuring:

 Craft Fair from 12:00 to 4:00 PM

Pumpkin Chucking Contest from 4:00 to 6:00 PM

Trunk or Treat & Fun House from 4:00 to 7:00 PM

Fireworks at 7:00 PM

 Winners will receive prizes, and everyone will enjoy an afternoon of fall fun. Contest rules, safety guidelines, and pumpkin weights will be provided at registration. The County will supply pumpkins.
