NOTICE TO OWNERS OF REAL PROPERTY SUBJECT TO
TAX FORECLOSURE

If you are the owner of real property in Chemung County which is your primary residence or commercial property and such real property is subject to tax foreclosure in 2021, please be advised of the following:

Redemption Date for Tax-Foreclosed Properties Extended by Court Order to April 30, 2022

Properties in Chemung County subject to this year’s tax foreclosure proceeding can be redeemed through April 30, 2022.


Pursuant to the NYS “COVID-19 Emergency Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2020”

and extensions or amendments thereto, you may be able to claim a COVID-19 related hardship

which would result in this year’s tax foreclosure proceeding being stayed regarding your property.


If you believe you are eligible to claim a COVID-19 related hardship, you must file NYS Form

RP-1102-DS for residential property or form RP-1102-CS for commercial property with our

office. Copies of the form are available at the NYS websites(see below) or from our office.
