NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON 8-YEAR REVIEW OF CHEMUNG COUNTY AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT
NOTICE is hereby given that the County Legislature of the County of Chemung, State of New York, will hold a public hearing in the Chambers of the Chemung County Legislature, 203 Lake Street, Elmira, New York 14901 on the 6th day of April 2026 at 6:50 p.m., to consider the recommendations of the Chemung County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board relative to the certified Agricultural District located in the County of Chemung, to include the addition of the real properties listed below.
The Chemung County Agricultural District currently includes 46,642.73 acres within the Towns of Ashland, Baldwin, Catlin, Chemung, Elmira, Erin, Horseheads, Southport, Van Etten, and Veteran, and the Villages of Horseheads and Wellsburg. A map of the district can be found on the Chemung County Agricultural & Farmland Protection Board website at https://chemungcountyny.gov/295/Agricultural-Farmland-Protection-Board. A physical map of the district can also be examined in the Office of the Clerk of the Chemung County Legislature, 203 Lake Street, 5th Floor, Elmira, New York on weekdays from 8:30 am- 4:30 pm.
The Chemung County Agricultural Farmland Protection Board recommends the continuation of the Agricultural District, with the addition of the below listed properties consisting of 1,328.22 acres. All parties in interest, citizens and municipalities will be heard by the Chemung County Legislature at the public hearing.
