The Chemung County Sheriff's Office will be holding its annual Boater Safety Classes.
The class is limited to 30 attendees. The youngest person who can attend a class is 10 years of age by the date the class is offered. Soon, all persons operating any motorized watercraft will need to have a Boater's License.
See your birth year to see when the course is required:
- Born after 1/1/1978 - must complete course in 2024
- All motorized boat operators must have a license in 2025, regardless of age.
There will be no fee for the class, and a 30-minute lunch break will be provided. Participants may pack a lunch or go out if time allows.
The class will be held on the dates listed below from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM:
- 5/4/24 at Southport Fire Department
- 5/11/24 at Golden Glow Fire Department
- 5/18/24 at West Elmira Fire Department
