Big flats wildlife refuge is a 136 acre parcel of land designated by the NYS department of environmental conservation to be preserved as a wild space. Once used as farmland, this parcel of land has become reclaimed by nature and is home to numerous NYS species such as white tailed deer, wild turkeys, as well as several species of fox and mink. While the reserve itself has only one short trail, you are allowed to hike outside of the beaten path. Be forwarded though, this area is open to hunting and trapping so be sure to make yourself visible and watch where you step!
