Clear cut and farmed for much of the 19th century, this 1200 acre parcel of land was once home to many small farms before being gradually abandoned for more fertile land out in the Midwest. After abandonment, NYS began to acquire the pieces of this property in the mid 1930s and began the long process of reforesting the area. While there are no marked trails, hiking is allowed everywhere on the property except in specially posted zones.
